High Alpine & toll roads

Over the mountains to new horizons

Motorized vacationers (and well-trained cyclists) start on the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road in the direction of South Tyrol from the Top Mountain Crosspoint near Hochgurgl. A visit to the Motorcycle Museum is almost a must before the toll road winds its way southwards on some 30 switchbacks covering 2500 altitude meters. The Eastern Alps' highest pass crossing opens up breathtaking vantage spots, the stations of the unique "Timmelsjoch Drive" as well as myriad high-altitude hiking trails. Special tip: Sölden's Panoramic Glacier Road enjoys a similar cult status, leading from the village center to breathtaking 2800 m above sea level - directly into the eternal ice of Rettenbach and Tiefenbach Glaciers.
