Because there is plenty of it in Gurgl on all these public holidays and also in between. Enough snow? For sure!

Did you know that Obergurgl-Hochgurgl is one of the snow-surest ski areas in Austria? The holiday resort at the rear end of Ötztal owes this primarily to its high alpine altitude. The ski area stretches between 1800 meters up to 3030 meters. This means that skiing fun in Gurgl begins where it has long since ended in many other ski areas. Additionally, Gurgl is one of Austria’s first non-glacier ski areas to open its ski slopes and mountain lifts. Skis and snowboards are in action already from mid-November. Usually, all 112 kilometers of ski pistes are already open at this time. True winter sports enthusiasts can look forward to the white splendor for almost 6 months as the snow-sure Gurgl ski area is in operation from November to April.

A total of 25 modern gondolas and chairlifts take skiers up the mountain. Thanks to the high capacity of the mountain lifts, the wide and spacious ski slopes that are never really crowded, you enjoy skiing pleasure without any waiting times. Both are just a few driving minutes from Gurgl.

The entire ski area boasts 36.5 kilometers of blue (easy) slopes, 55.5 kilometers of red (intermediate) slopes and around 20 kilometers of black (difficult) slopes. And even if it doesn't snow that much in winter, skiing fun is guaranteed in Gurgl as almost all slopes feature top modern snow-making systems. Thanks to the high alpine altitude and the low temperatures, skiing is already possible from autumn. This makes Gurgl one of Austria’s snow-surest ski areas.
