Did you know that Obergurgl-Hochgurgl is one of the snow-surest ski areas in Austria? The holiday resort at the rear end of Ötztal owes this primarily to its high alpine altitude. The ski area stretches between 1800 meters up to 3080 meters. This means that skiing fun in Gurgl begins where it has long since ended in many other ski areas. Additionally, Gurgl is one of Austria’s first non-glacier ski areas to open its ski slopes and mountain lifts. Skis and snowboards are in action already from mid-November. Usually, all 112 kilometers of ski pistes are already open at this time. True winter sports enthusiasts can look forward to the white splendor for almost 6 months as the snow-sure Gurgl ski area is in operation from November to April.
